Why are brand guidelines important?

Brand guidelines is a document stating a series of rules to abide by when demonstrating a company’s brand.

Why are brand guidelines important?

Regardless the size of your business brand guidelines are a vital source!

Brand guidelines are not only useful to staff but also when working with others, such as suppliers so that they represent your brand as you wish.

What do brand guidelines include:

1. Logo

  • The logo and variations that are available to use
  • Versions of the logo that can be used on which colour backgrounds
  • How to use the logo, for example don’t stretch it, don’t change the colour and the space between the logo and the elements around it

2. Colour palette

  • It’s easy to use the colour blue but very difficult to get the exact shade, this ensues that the same colours are used consistently. The guidelines include RBG (for web), CMYK (print), hex (for web), and the closest Pantone and Ral shades. z

3. Typography

  • Fonts that can be used when referring to the business. Brand guidelines can not only tell you which fonts to use, but also the weight of the fonts and the case that should be used for headings, subheadings, paragraph text and muted text
